Signs, Symbols, and Working From What You Know.

This lovely image and/or rainbow jumped off the computer monitor this morning. I was sorting and working on putting a slide show together on a totally different subject.

However, this sun through a medieval stained glass window on the stone floor of the Church of Saint Père-sous-Vézelay, in Morvan, Burgundy in France flashed up as a hopeful omen.

We, as artists, do in fact work from and with what we know. This advice is given to every would be writer, work from what you know.

This reminds me that knowing is a very diffuse and diverse sort of thing. Not all knowing is fact or proof; sometimes it's odd little messages from the ozone. We have to trust our own knowing.
