Desert Icons

Recently, a colleague asked me if I could republish some of my Sonoran Desert landscape commissions.  Let’s see what I can find on this disk I dugout.

Could I ask if you used a particular mountain for your Javalina piece? Looks like out my back door. Sarah pointed me your way, I’ve bookmarked your blog. Lovely work.

Well, the mexican mesquite tree starts at the far left. Just behind that is Mount Hopkins where the Smithsonian’s Whipple Observatory is. Then to the right before you get to the sahuaro is Elephant Head.

These are the Santa Rita Mountains which border the east side of the Santa Cruz River Valley in Pima County, Arizona.

Also, the Harris Hawk, in the sahuaro is about the size of your fist on the quilt. It took twenty one separate pieces of fabric just for the hawk. His nest is the remains of a toy witches broom from halloween. The Harris Hawk makes his nest out of sticks. thanks, thelma
