Third Annual LULAC Latino Arts Awards

The League of United Latin American Citizens, Council 1057 is proud to announce the 3rd Annual LULAC Latino Arts Awards dedicated to the memory of Albert Soto for his work in arts advocacy and in promoting opportunities for Latino artists.   Nominations will be accepted in several categories via a one-page narrative as to why the nominee should be recognized, signed by the nominator.  Nominations are due no later than Friday, October 24, 2008 by mail (postmarked) to P.O. Box 2443, Tucson, AZ  85702 or by email (subject line: LULAC Arts Awards) to azhighway@cox.net.  The LULAC Latino Arts Awards are sponsored by Amigos de Pima, LULAC Council 1057, Henry Oyama, Councilman Steve Leal, Martha McGrath, and Richard Fimbres-Pima College Board of Governors benefiting the Hispanic Student Endowment Fund of the Pima Community College Foundation.

As a post script to this listing, Albert Soto is remembered by all sorts of people.  He was a thoughtful, kind, and perceptive man.  I owe much of my work as an artist to his mentorship.

While this is a local event and may not be appropriate for extra regional applications, it is an example of the societal and cultural aspects of Tucson, Arizona.
