looks like staples & weathered paper scraps on old timber, to me - I’d guess it’s a much-billposted utility pole. Reminds me of the prayer/wish tree in Kathmandu (that one’s specific to dentistry I think), coins & nails hammered in all over.
telephone pole
Hmm… that looks like a wooden electricity pole extensively used for personal adverts (moving sales, lost dog/cat, etc.) IN a city. I saw a similar one near Speedway Indiana after the race finished
Doh! You kind of gave it away by naming it stapled-powerpole.png.
Hi,
I have to disqualify myself because when I clicked the image I saw the title of the picture. But how cool is that?! What wonderful texture. I have been meaning to email you and thank you for starting Planet Textile. I read it every morning and such a diverse and interesting group of artists. Thanks!
OK, I cheated. The image is called stapled power pole, so I guess that’s what it is!
I think that is a sign post or light post with the staples and nails from people posting signs.

A utility pole filled with staples from the many flyers which have once been attached to it?

Looks like staples on a post to me. Probably one of those posts where signs have been tacked up, removed, and new ones added in their place.
It looks like a closeup of a telephone pole or wooden board with lots and lots of staples from old flyers and posters — I remember such things from my college campus. Am I right?
Ok, what’s funny is that I just realized that if I hover the mouse over the picture, the name of the file says what it is!
I forgot my email, which is dstearns at erols dot com
telephone pole covered with staples from old flyers (bits of flyers also included). Awesome picture. Makes you wanna drop a bunch of staples on fabric and sew them on.
OK, maybe not
